Micycle is a cycling route tracking application that is simple, yet highly effective. It provides all the necessary features without any unnecessary complexity or overloaded screens.
Key Features:
- Utilizes phone GPS/GLONASS for accurate location, speed, and elevation data
- Compatible with standard Bluetooth power meters or ANT+ to BT bridges for power tracking
- Supports standard Bluetooth sensors or ANT+ to BT bridges for speed and cadence tracking. Can use speed sensor instead of GPS for more accurate speed and distance measurement if available.
- Connects with standard Bluetooth heart rate sensors for heart rate monitoring
- All routes and maps can be imported/exported as GPX files
- Automatically exports ride data to Strava or manually exports to any other service supporting TCX and GPX file formats
When in your pocket, Micycle provides spoken information at user-selected intervals based on time or distance. It includes details such as current speed and power, average speed, time elapsed, distance covered, calories burned, and battery levels for the phone and sensors. Additionally, it can warn you about potholes or pauses/resumes in your ride and even play your music.
When mounted on your bike, Micycle displays various metrics including current speed, average moving speed, maximum speed, current power, average power, maximum power, distance covered, total time elapsed, moving time, paused time, grade (inclination), cadence, heart rate (including heart rate zones displayed with different colors), and a map showcasing your route. It also offers a segments interface with a preview of the elevation profile ahead. All the features mentioned in the "In a Pocket" mode are available when you mount Micycle on your bike. Additionally, there is a trainer mode that requires a speed sensor.
Micycle offers convenience and automation features such as the ability to switch data source from GPS to speed sensor if available, an auto-pause function when not moving to obtain accurate average metrics, and the ability to record potholes and receive notifications when near them. It also provides backup and restore options using iCloud, keeps a history of your rides, supports multiple bicycles with their parameters and sensors, tracks bicycle events like chain and tire changes, accidents with date and odometer readings, and integrates with HealthKit to read age and weight, as well as write workout and calorie data. Furthermore, Micycle allows you to follow previously ridden paths or import routes and provides offline maps for areas with expensive roaming or no signal.
For analysis and visualization purposes, Micycle offers a bar chart that displays recorded rides with information such as distance, average speed, and power. It also provides an interactive ride chart with a slider that displays real-time values for metrics like speed, grade, distance, time, power, cadence, heart rate, as well as mile/km averages and totals. The chart is accompanied by a map showing the location at each slider point. The main screen layout, controls, and colors are designed with convenience in mind. Additionally, Micycle offers an on-map view for reviewing ride history and recorded potholes.
In terms of sharing options, Micycle allows you to start and finish rides on Twitter and Facebook. You can also share route maps and information via email and iMessage. When sharing via email, the ride data is automatically included. Micycle offers route path saving as routes and supports GPX file export/import via email attachment.
For Apple Watch users, Micycle provides convenient controls to pause/resume or finish rides directly from the watch. It also displays essential data such as distance, time, speed, heart rate, and grade. Additionally, an elevation chart is available on the watch for quick visualization.
Please note that continuous use of GPS in the background may significantly reduce battery life. More details can be found on the Micycle website at https://oxigenator.com/products/micycle/.
Micycle aims to optimize battery usage by only tracking location when a ride is started and not yet finished. Location updates occur at reasonable intervals while riding, for example, every 5 meters or 15 feet.
Some features in Micycle require a paid subscription. There are two types of auto-renewable subscriptions available: monthly (valid for 1 month) and annual (valid for 12 months). Detailed terms of use can be obtained from the Micycle website at https://oxigenator.com/products/micycle-detailed/terms-of-use/.
